Feathers and jewels adorned the angels of Victoria's Secret as they paraded down the glittery runway Tuesday evening during their famous fashion show. These getups are just a few of my favorites from the production.

The look: J. Crew jeweled sweater // JCP chambray button down // Frye lindsey spur boots in redwood // diamond earrings in a teardrop settings // Essie nail polish in exotic liras I have been on the hunt for a good chambray shirt for my wardrobe and was floored when my mom told me she found it at JCPenny. It's comfortable and a great pair for any sweater in my closet. The great thing about chambray is it is a year long wear, suitable for any season depending on how you style it. I love colorful outfits but this neutral ensemble really sparked my interest. The oatmeal sweater was a first for me but the jewels arranged along the crew neckline made it more my style. While still looking fun and thanksgiving festive, I remained comfortable enough to play with my cousins' puppies. Atlas + Apollo are absolutely precious. Before I go, a quick round of applause for my moms' green thumb, the flowers were gorgeous. Perfect Thanksgiving with the fam! XOXO, Suzanna
Stylish StockingsTights are taking the fashion world by storm, not only are they warm and practical, but these days they are a fashion staple. They come in every color under the sun and even patterns you didn't know existed. They are the ultimate option to spice up your outfit. You could be wearing an all black outfit and slip your legs into a bright pink or yellow pair of tights and I promise you will turn heads. They are so fun because of the different varieties. I feel like they're supposed to be fun. Everyone needs their neutral black and brown pair of tights but if I pass a pair of red polka dot ones in the store it becomes hard to talk myself out of adding them to my collection. They can also say a lot about your personality. Go out and buy a crazy pair of tights and tell me you don't feel happy wearing them. XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Faded Glory men's long sleeve navy plaid flannel // Joe's Jeans the skinny in dark indigo stretch // Kerisma red infinity scarf // cowboy boots My first real flannel shirt! A mens shirt can look silly if you don't get the right size. I got a small and have to roll the sleeves up, but when you find the right size it should have that perfect slouchy fit that doesn't look too frumpy. I also am now on the flannel-wagon because not only is it cute, but it is super comfy. This is the perfect, little effort outfit for going to class and still looking like you put yourself together. I am a huge fan of infinity scarves, they're my number one go-to accessory to complete an outfit; plus they're insanely cute. Hope you have a great weekend! XOXO, Suzanna
It is scientifically proven that anyone can slip on a black leather jacket and instantly transform into a bad girl. I bring good news: fashion forecasters say leather is the new denim and it's here to stay. Leather can be edgy, sporty, or downright girly depending on how it's styled. If you can't seem to find your inner biker chick and don't think you can pull leather off, grab a leather pencil skirt like my girl in the bottom right with a flowy blouse tucked and you will just radiate NYC chic. My only words of caution are to steer clear of an entire leather outfit, unless your name is Michelle Pfeiffer. You will not regret introducing Falls hottest trend to your closet. Don't be afraid to try something new ;) XOXO, Suzanna
The look: royal blue dress from TJ Maxx (identical this mini dress by American Apparel) // H&M leopard cardigan // Frye lindsey spur boots in redwood // Sweetie Pie Jewelry double-ball blair earrings in gold // Spanx tight-end tights reversible between black and dark brown Although not every color in the outfit "matches" they do coordinate. If you take anything away from this blog, let it be COORDINATION IS KEY. The blue popping against the leopard (I've finally learned how to differentiate leopard from cheetah) is clearly the base of the outfit and the leg wear brings it home. The earrings give the outfit the perfect sparkle effect to balance out the roughness of the boots. And yes, I see the black in my sweater. How do I have the guts to wear black in conjunction with brown? Because I say black and brown DO go together, within reason, of course. Don't be afraid to make your own rules; that's the beauty of clothes. Wear what you're comfortable in! “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” - Orson Welles XOXO, Suzanna
I'm initiating what I like to call "Pinterest Tuesday" to the calendar of Overdressed Always. For the inaugural event I've chosen a topic to swoon over. Fall is in full swing and that means it is everyones favorite season. Tis the season to L A Y E R! I found the most helpful layering guide on Pinterest that couldn't have gone unshared. Now that I go to school in the mountains (Go App State!) I will have plenty of more opportunities to experiment with button downs & sweaters. The fun part is there are so many outfit options because you can mix it up and create a totally different look just by changing the sweater, for example. My favorite example on the chart is the black & white polka dots paired with the bright purple, cable-knit sweater. Purple is just the best color, it goes with anything. Layering shouldn't be stressful, try to have fun with it. Remember to stay warm & look sleek! XOXO, Suzanna
The look: H&M low cut fringe dress in blush pink // Target vintage suede mary jane pumps and fishnet tights // Forever21 diamond headband // Moon & Lola ritz earrings "I hope she'll be a fool--that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool..." -Daisy Buchanan. In honor of Halloween, a costume post is absolutely in order. Over the past few months I've been obsessed with The Great Gatsby, thus my costume inspiration to be Daisy. It was very simple and assembled all from pieces already in my closet! Topped off with bright red lips and a beauty mark and I felt like one of F. Scott Fitzgerald's characters. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Land's End shimmer down parka in black // Joe's Jeans the skinny in dark indigo stretch // Cynthia Rowley gray and yellow striped cashmere sweater // Kerisma red infinity scarf // Kate Spade small square studs in yellow // cowboy boots. This outfit is just a big mix of clothes, all different colors but they complement each other. I've tied together the outfit with my yellow studs to match the yellow in the sweater so there is some color coordination. Going to school in Boone, NC means the followers of Overdressed Always will definitely be seeing this coat a lot. It has already snowed here and October is barely over. Pray for me, I'm a coastal girl. XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Vintage baby blue AG Jeans corduroy jacket // Forever21 patterned tank top // Hollister skirt // Lily & Laura bracelet
For a more relaxed look i've double cuffed the sleeves on my jacket and thrown it over a look tank top tucked into a staple white skirt adorned in clear sequins just to add that little extra something. Lilly and Laura bracelets are my current new obsession so why not pair a simple gold one to my outfit just because I think it helps bring the outfit together. perfect for any casual occasion. |
