The look: Top | Anthropologie Jeans | Citizens of Humanity Wedges | Nordstrom Rack Earrings | Sweetie Pie Jewelry Rings | Vintage Happy Friday my loves! I apologize for taking way too long of a hiatus from OA. I've missed it so much, and now that I'm back and settled into my first apartment ever for my Junior year of college (OMG so exciting I can't handle it) I am back and set to blog. Because I am a college girl in 2014, going to class in Norts and t-shirt is a norm, so you can imagine my excitement to jump at any excuse to dress up. I've been ready to show off this top ever since I scored a sweet deal on it at back-to-school shopping. I saw it back in May a full price and decided I didn't need it THAT bad. Then came back in July and there it was, on the front of the sale rack, just in my size as if it had been waiting for me the whole time. It was a sign to buy it that I couldn't ignore. I knew it would pair beautifully with my obsession for dark wash denim and my new nude wedges that I see myself getting a lot of wear out of, especially this fall. I've also recently become interested in vintage rings. The two I am wearing (and you will often see on my hand) is my mom's onyx class ring from Peace College in Raleigh and the other is my dad's childhood signet ring with an "R" for Reid. I like having something from both of them with me on my hand, it's such a special thing to me. If you don't have special jewelry from family members, antique stores will do the trick!

Happy 4th of July!!! Thankful that Hurricane Arthur has passed and left us here in Atlantic Beach with a beautiful day. I hope fireworks and cookout plans carryout today! Let me go ahead and get started on this star spangled outfit. These jeans are something I have been searching for high and low and finally just gave up thinking every other girl in the world had every pair leaving me vintage jean-less. Then last week a post from a fellow blogger Top Knots & Polka Dots inspired me to go out hunting again. Luckily I was fortunate enough to find me a pair of Coldwater Creek high waisted jeans (hehe) and cut those suckers up into the perfect pair of shorts. They are my new babies, and they only cost $4. The top was $5.00!! and the bandana was just $1. I have to say this was the cheapest outfit I have ever created. I hope everyone has a safe Independence Day. Do it for 'Merica. The look
Top | Walmart Jeans | Goodwill Bandana | Walmart Shoes | Keds Sunglasses | Maui Jim Bracelets | Lily & Laura Earrings | Moon & Lola The look Top: Target tank top Shorts: J. Crew cuffed jean shorts Sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch open draped cardigan Sandals: Jack Rogers gold Earrings: gold knot studs from a boutique Sunnies: Ray Ban folding wayfarers This quick shoot of my outfit was done right before work (thanks Darby for being my last minute photographer). I love this simple, relaxed way to wear a cardigan in the summer. The lightweight fabric of the summer sweater doesn't pull you down. Instead, it gives the basic combo of a tank top with jean shorts something flowy and girly! It's also entertaining.. of course I found myself playing with the ends of my "cape" all day. I am definitely on the hunt for another one of these nifty pieces before my summer comes to a sad end. Let me know if you find a cute one :D
The look: Forever 21 lavender blouse // J. Crew navy woven belt and jean shorts // Keds original champions in navy. This simple look was put together for a trip to the Raleigh, NC flea market with my Mom, Aunt, and Granny Mother's Day girls trip. I love to hunt for vintage treasures (while digging through some prehistoric junk); especially with a new apartment to fill within the next few months! So much excitement! What I love most about this outfit is the lightweight-ness of the top. It is the perfect style for a hot summer day to tuck into skirts, shorts, or even keep it untucked and loose. I am very in to tucking things in these days. Below I have posted a few examples of some perfect summer blouses that look fabulous both tucked & untucked. Whichever style you are more comfortable in is what you should rock! Be yourself!
The look: chambray sleeves top J. Crew Factory // skinny jeans AG Jeans // classic champion original Keds in navy // Ray Ban folding wayfarers The school year is coming to a close which means summer is quickly approaching. I absolutely adore this washed-look top for many reasons. 1.) I mean hello?? Did you SEE the collar?? 2.) it can be dressed up or down looking business-y with a pencil skirt or a sleek pair of slacks or looking casual with a pair of jeans (as pictured above) or thrown over a pair of bright colored shorts. It's versatile and lightweight so I could rock this top all day long. Go find yourself a fancy collared shirt because I received sweet complements all day long. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how many different ways I can style this beauty
The look: Cole Haan leather mustard crossbody bag // Citizens of Humanity rocket cropped jeans in a light wash // Tom Ford milan sunnies // Target leopard hair belt // Abercrombie & Fitch maroon long sleeve tee // vintage cocktail ring Happy second day of Spring! I love being able to retire the winter coats and boots for a few months and cuff up my sleeves and jeans. I've recently caught high-waisted jean fever and I've got it bad. They're comfortable and give your outfit a whole new look. I cannot wait to add more to my collection. Now that warm weather is here, I will have motivation to put together fun springy outfits so more to come!
The look: J. Crew jeweled sweater // JCP chambray button down // Frye lindsey spur boots in redwood // diamond earrings in a teardrop settings // Essie nail polish in exotic liras I have been on the hunt for a good chambray shirt for my wardrobe and was floored when my mom told me she found it at JCPenny. It's comfortable and a great pair for any sweater in my closet. The great thing about chambray is it is a year long wear, suitable for any season depending on how you style it. I love colorful outfits but this neutral ensemble really sparked my interest. The oatmeal sweater was a first for me but the jewels arranged along the crew neckline made it more my style. While still looking fun and thanksgiving festive, I remained comfortable enough to play with my cousins' puppies. Atlas + Apollo are absolutely precious. Before I go, a quick round of applause for my moms' green thumb, the flowers were gorgeous. Perfect Thanksgiving with the fam! XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Faded Glory men's long sleeve navy plaid flannel // Joe's Jeans the skinny in dark indigo stretch // Kerisma red infinity scarf // cowboy boots My first real flannel shirt! A mens shirt can look silly if you don't get the right size. I got a small and have to roll the sleeves up, but when you find the right size it should have that perfect slouchy fit that doesn't look too frumpy. I also am now on the flannel-wagon because not only is it cute, but it is super comfy. This is the perfect, little effort outfit for going to class and still looking like you put yourself together. I am a huge fan of infinity scarves, they're my number one go-to accessory to complete an outfit; plus they're insanely cute. Hope you have a great weekend! XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Land's End shimmer down parka in black // Joe's Jeans the skinny in dark indigo stretch // Cynthia Rowley gray and yellow striped cashmere sweater // Kerisma red infinity scarf // Kate Spade small square studs in yellow // cowboy boots. This outfit is just a big mix of clothes, all different colors but they complement each other. I've tied together the outfit with my yellow studs to match the yellow in the sweater so there is some color coordination. Going to school in Boone, NC means the followers of Overdressed Always will definitely be seeing this coat a lot. It has already snowed here and October is barely over. Pray for me, I'm a coastal girl. XOXO, Suzanna
The look: Forever21 teal green peplum top // Joe's Jeans the skinny in dark indigo stretch // Minnetonka beaded suede moccasins.
The jeans are double cuffed about 2 inches because I have short legs and I also prefer the ankle cut with this look. It's presentable enough with the top but the jeans and moccasins make it comfortable and casual. I'm also proud to have modeled this look in my mom's beautiful living room. When I have a house of my own, I'd be happy with myself if I could decorate half as well as she can. |
